Residential Solar Panel Cleaning For Your Home.

If you have solar panels installed on your home, at some point you might find that they are producing less electricity than they did when you first got them. This is not a sign that your solar panels are wearing out, and it is probably not a sign that they need to be repaired. The solution is usually a lot simpler than that – they are just dirty from being out in the weather and they need to be cleaned.

With residential solar panel cleaning, you get:

Better efficiency
More energy production
Check for damage
Longer life for your solar panels
No hassle for you!

Why do I need to have my solar panels cleaned?

Over time, dirt builds up on solar panels, just like anything else. The wind carries dust and grit. Car traffic or airplanes overhead cause a buildup of grime and oily residue. Leaves may blow onto your solar panels, though of course most of the time your solar panels will be installed far away from any trees so that they will not be in the shade. Bird droppings may get on your solar panels. Pollen can completely coat your solar panels in a green layer. Every little piece of dirt that is on your solar panels casts a tiny shadow, and in that spot your solar panel does not produce electricity. This does not matter at all when there are just a few specks of dust, but once the dirt reaches a critical mass, your solar panels are going to produce noticeably less energy

How often do I need to clean my solar panels?

This all depends on where you live and how dirty your solar panels get. If you live somewhere with very high pollen counts, you will need to get your solar panels cleaned after pollen season. If you live somewhere with a lot of traffic you will need to have your panels cleaned more frequently. A good ballpark is to plan on having your solar panels cleaned every six months, in the spring and the fall. If you notice your energy production lowering between cleanings, it would be a good idea to go ahead and get them cleaned again. The cost of cleaning is low compared to the cost of buying solar panels that do not produce at their max capacity.

What benefits are there of having it done professionally?

When you have your solar panels cleaned professionally, you are also getting them looked at by solar panel experts who can let you know if there are any problems you need to be aware of or minor repairs you should take care of before they become major problems. You also can rely on a crew with the proper equipment instead of endangering your own life and limb climbing up on top of your roof
